What happen to young engineers nowadays?
Basic Salary @XXXXX MNC Penang (actual )
2005 - Engineer basic monthly Salary (Bayan Lepas, Penang) - RM2,500.00 (permanent employee)
2006 - Engineer basic monthly Salary (Bayan Lepas, Penang) - RM2,500.00 (permanent employee)
2007 - Engineer basic monthly Salary (Bayan Lepas, Penang) - RM2,500.00 (permanent employee)
2008 - Engineer basic monthly Salary (Bayan Lepas, Penang) - RM2,500.00 (contract - 1 year)
2009 - Engineer basic monthly Salary (Bayan Lepas, Penang) - RM2,500.00 (contract - 1 year)
2010 - Engineer basic monthly Salary (Bayan Lepas, Penang) - RM2,500.00 (contract - 1 year)
2011 - Engineer basic monthly Salary (Bayan Lepas, Penang) - RM2,800.00 (contract - 1 year)

2005-2011 - 12% increase in wage....

2005 - Hokkien Mee RM2.00-RM2.20
2011 - Hokkien Mee RM2.80-RM3.50

Food price inflation is around ~40%


House price @Penang.
- The house price (inflation + speculation) ~8-12% increase.
 Within 3 years, Penang Condo price move up 50% ...

Conclusion:-
So, are you underpaid?
If you can get salary increment by 8% every year, you can beat inflation but can't be rich.
